HiStory: Rebbe Werbermacher of Ludomir, born Hannah Rachel, led Sabbath "third meal" gatherings, healed the ill, wore tallit and tefillin and studied Talmud as a male Hasidic Rebbe would. In the middle of the nineteenth century the Rebbe settled in Jerusalem and prayed daily at the Kotel ha-Ma'aravi in tallit and tefillin, led pilgrimages to holy sites, and held large teachings at the Shabbat tisch. Nathaniel Deutsch found evidence of Werbermacher in the Kollel Volin community in Jerusalem and identified Werbermacher's grave on Har ha-Zeitim.
